Zvi Galil started his cadency as president of Tel-Aviv University. He likes to use the MM and in our case he would use te MS (since we use IMAP to access the mail). The link at http://www.columbia.edu/~fdc/mm/#ms is not working (ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/mail/ms.tar.Z is not accessible). I would appreciate if you can fix the link or send us the MS version (that can be compiled on Debian Linux). I sent a message to the author of MS (Mark Crispin) asking for a valid URL. Zvi will find that MS is a very small subset of MM; I hope it is adequate to his needs. As you know from the page you looked at, I use MM as a POP client. Another alternative, which nobody has had time for, would be to add IMAP capability to MM, by integrating the same C-Client library that MS and Pine use. I'll let you know when I get a reply from Mark. > Cheers, > Eddie > -------------------------- > Eddie Aronovich > School of Computer Sciences > Tel-Aviv University > Tel: +972-3-6406915 > Fax: +972-3-6409371 - Frank Frank da Cruz Director The Kermit Project Columbia University 612 West 115th Street New York NY 10025-7799 USA Email: fdc@columbia.edu Voice: +1 212 854-3508 Fax: +1 212 662-6442 http://www.columbia.edu/kermit/ From fdc@columbia.edu Mon May 21 12:48:26 2007 Flags: 000000000001 Return-Path: Received: from liverwurst.cc.columbia.edu ([unix socket]) by liverwurst.cc.columbia.edu (Cyrus v2.3-alpha) with LMTPA; Mon, 21 May 2007 12:56:00 -0400 X-Sieve: CMU Sieve 2.3 Received: from brinza.cc.columbia.edu (brinza.cc.columbia.edu [128.59.29.8]) by liverwurst.cc.columbia.edu (8.13.1/8.13.1) with ESMTP id l4LGtxxs023075 for ; Mon, 21 May 2007 12:55:59 -0400 Received: from sesame.cc.columbia.edu (sesame.cc.columbia.edu [128.59.59.56]) by brinza.cc.columbia.edu (8.13.7/8.13.6) with ESMTP id l4LGtxoa006333 for ; Mon, 21 May 2007 12:55:59 -0400 (EDT) Received: from sesame.cc.columbia.edu (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by sesame.cc.columbia.edu (8.13.7/8.13.6) with ESMTP id l4LGmRIB001583; Mon, 21 May 2007 12:48:27 -0400 (EDT) Received: (from fdc@localhost) by sesame.cc.columbia.edu (8.13.7/8.12.8/Submit) id l4LGmQ0k001582; Mon, 21 May 2007 12:48:26 -0400 (EDT) Date: Mon, 21 May 2007 12:48:26 EDT From: Frank da Cruz To: Edward Aronovich MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Subject: Re: MS and IMAP In-Reply-To: Message-ID: X-No-Spam-Score: Local X-Scanned-By: MIMEDefang 2.48 on 128.59.29.8 > As you probably know, prof. They said you needed an IMAP client, and unfortunately, MM is not one, and they wanted to find another program called MS, which is similar to MM. It took me about a week but I did it, and informed them four days ago. It is here: ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/mail/powertools/ms.tar.Z Personally I still use MM, but as a secure POP client, rather than an IMAP client: http://www.columbia.edu/~fdc/mm/ For me, POP service is completely adequate because I always read my mail on the same hosts, and I prefer the convenience of being able to archive my mail myself, and to control the archive. If Tel-Aviv University were to enable POP service, you could use MM itself and I would be happy to help you set it up. - Frank
